5 Things for 5 People: Delivered

In April, I jumped on board the 5 Things for 5 People project and in November I posted a little clue about my materials.

My starting point was this apron that I received from my mom's husband Roger's family collection. He has a lot of possessions that have been handed down and I am lucky enough to get neat things from his family from time to time. I recently came into a small collection of aprons, many of which are tattered and stained. These were not precious, fold them up in a drawer and never use them kind of aprons. These were workhorse aprons, some of which still had kleenexes in the pockets! I don't think any of them will be serviceable as aprons now, but I loved the history of them and many of the fabrics were beautiful. So, they have been sitting, washed and waiting for me to be inspired to do something with them.

For my "things", I wanted to challenge myself to make something a little different and outside my usual realm. I melded a few techniques and materials I have been playing with, including fabric from the apron, stamps, shrinky dinks, decoupage and glaze with my jewelry making background and came up with these pendants.

At this point, they should have been received by their 5 recipients (Lisa, Beth, SulkyCat, Michele and Jen), with the exception of Jen, with whom I will connect at a Borealis Knit Night soon.

Free Things (With a Catch)

Remember the 5 Things project I am doing? I am narrowing down what I will be making and will be sure to have them in the mail before the deadline. So, if you signed up on my blog, be assured I haven't forgotten about you!

If you were interested in it and didn't get a chance to sign up yet, you have another chance. My friend Beth who, among her many talents, is an excellent photographer, just posted the 5 Things offer on her blog. Go on! Get while the gettin' is good!

5 Things for 5 People

It seems I am all about jumping aboard other people's projects lately. The newest one is from Jennie the Potter.

Here it goes:

The first five people to respond to this post will get something made by me.This offer does have some restrictions and limitations so please read carefully:

1. I make no guarantees that you will like what I make. (No refunds... no exchanges!!!!)

2. What I create will be just for you, with love from me.

3. It'll be done this calendar year (2009).

4. I will not give you any clue what it's going to be. It will be something made in the real world and not something cyber. It may be weird or beautiful. I may even create something totally unbelievable and surprise you!! It will be handmade and may be any medium I choose. Who knows? Not you, that's for sure!

5. I reserve the right to do something extremely strange...or awesome...or lovely!

6. In return, all you need to do is post this text into a note/post of your own and make 5 things for the first 5 to respond to it.

7. Send your mailing address (to trinknitty@gmail.com) if you don't live close to me!
