Project 365: Day 184

Vineyard/Winery/New Zealand

Gretchen and I spent an awesome afternoon at the Alexis Bailly Vineyard in Hastings, MN. This Minnesota vineyard uses blends of their grapes and grapes that they buy from other vineyards to create their 10 varieties of wine. Gretchen is currently living in Hastings, so it was a convenient place for her to go and a new place for me to visit. We enjoyed tasting the full array of Alexis Bailly wines, with the clear winner being the Hastings Reserve.

In addition to the tastings, they have a store where you can buy local cheese and other gourmet items to take home or eat on-site. It was very brisk and fall-like today, so we opted to eat our bread and cheese and drink our wine inside the tasting building. Afterwards we walked around the property to see the rows of grape vines and the sculpture garden.

I'm really glad that Gretchen and I got to see each other today because in a few short weeks, she will be moving to New Zealand, where many adventures and experiences await her. Bon voyage, Gretchen!
